Audiecne Feedback - Done -

Audience feedback is important to any film as it allows you to recieve the intake of whom your film is amied at in order to generate and etablish the good and bad points of your film and how it can therefore be improved. We recieved feedback from our audiecne as we screened it to them in order to recieve thier verdict , we then gathered them together to brainstorm the negatives of our film and the precautions we could take to improve them. This feedback would benefit our production as it allows us to gather to negatives and how nto overcome them for current or future projects , furthermore , it allows us to highlight the good points and etablish what ones offered our audiecne the highest viewing pleasure.
Good comments from our audiecne -
·        One comment we recieved from our audience was about the cinematography that we used , the audiecne highlighted that they found the constant use of close ups effective as it allowed them to etablish how the characters were feeling in constrast to the other characters and therefore allowed a better portrayment of character portfolio. (Rebecca)
·        Another Comment we recieved from our audiecne was the use of sound within our film , they highlighted that the sound was effective as it created tension in a numerous amount of scenes in particular the kidnapping scene , where the charcetr gets taken , the sudden burst of sound created fear as it suprised the audiecne and therefore via use of the sound furthered emotion produced.(bianca)
·        Another postive comment highlighted by our audiecne was how our location was effective , they said how the location was conventional as all the locations in our scene were dark and realistic , whcih are reflective of the genre we are focusing on. (Darryl)
·        We allso recived a postivive comment on the use of editing as they highlighted hoow effective we used the editing , in particular the fade to back in the final scene which were a subistite for the character opening and closing her eye. (Kayliegh)
Bad comments from our audiecne -
·        Our audiecne highlishted our our use of on screen sound , by the use of the characters sream was uneffective due to its lasting effective , the member of the audiecne said how it took away the emotion of the scene as the scream took his attention away from the footage. (Johnny)
·        Another negative comment from our audiecne was the reprersentation of the characters , in particular the relationship between the characters julia and brad , the member of the audiecne said that we could of used a more dramatic scene or encouraging acting in order to etablish thier romantic relationship. (Teonya)
Overall , I believe I have followed the aims of the brief for the Two minute thriller as I and My group have used the following elements ; Cinematography , Iconography , Sound , Editing and Mise-en-scene in order nto create an effective and conventional film which will pleasure the target audiecne.

Soundtrack of thriller production - Done -

The purpose of a soundtrack within a film is to increase the viewing pleasure which can be used by introducing music or sound effects in order to create more of a range of emotions from the audiecne such as fear and excitement. We used Apples Logic pro as our sound software , we found that this was a good descison as it was effective atproducing and blending sounds for our film. The sounds we used mainly came under the catergory of eeire , which were mainly slow paced , slowly rising music which were conventional sounds as they created an effective use of tension within the film.

Examples of conventional soundtrack within my thriller -
  • Non - digectic - Our slowly rising music that occurs throught the whole production , althought it rises and slows down as well as becomes louder or quiter at points of the film. Another use of soundtrack is beginning the opening credits which slowly introduces the audiecne to the thriller.

The soundtrack software I used within my thriller was apples logic pro -

I decided to use this software within my thriller in as it was effective at inserting the sound within the timeline as I could add each sounded I wanted to match the scene therefore it would make the sound parrelel to the image.

For example -

The sound is important in this scene as it is a mix of digectic sound via the breathing of the character as well as the use of soundtrack that is non-digectic by the use of a soundtrack that is rising rapidly to show how the character is feeling , which is scared and worried due to his girlfriend going missing which is therefore enhanced by the introduction of the music.

Reflection :
Our soundtrack is effective as it is parralel to our film , for example , in our scene where our kidnapper has his vitcim tied up , the sound gets higher in terms of tempo and the scene fades to black , this shows how the tension has built to its highest point and something is about to happen , the scene then ends , however the audiecne are still on the edge of thier seat due to the use of the sound. Throughoout of film we have used sounds that are conventioanl to the genre thriller as it allows the audiecne to develop there reakltionship with the film as they are more invovled with the films. The most common sound effect used within our film is non-digectic which is predominatly soundtrack , soundtrack is an essestional sound effect in a thriller as it adds to the fear and excitement which are key emotions within a thriller film.

Preliminary task - Done -

Our preliminary task invovled producing a 1 minute sequence in which we had to plan , record and edit the sequecne in order to demonstrate our understanding of the recording and editing equipement. My group who consisted of tre and Jamie , decided to record a numerous amount of converstations between two characters in whcih myself and tre acted as. There were a nurmous amount of difficulties in filming our task , one of them were that our cameraman ( Jamie ) had no previous experice with a camera and therefore we endured a lengthy period whilst he was discovering the key prinicples of filming. Another diffuciltie we overcome when filming our prelimary task , was that we had to produce the recording and planning of it within a day , and therefore was rushed into it without having a direct idea of what uses of elements such as cinematography and sound we wanted to use.

one shot featured within our preliminary task

Reflection :
The preliminary task was overall effective as it allowed us as a group to understand the priniciples of filming and editing a film. I learnt how to use storyboards in order to support the development of a film as i understood how directors and film crew look back on them to insure all the features of the film are bieng included.Premilimary task was also important as we understood what shots were effective , for example , within our 1 mintue film we included an etablishing shot , in whcih our cameraman had to climb up stairs in order to look down on the characters , and therefore we learnt how to do shots similar to this.
