Narrative theory

A narrative theory is a idea that describes how your narrative is used to enchance the effectiveness of the film. There are different ideas of narratives , Vladmir Propo believed charracters are more fundamental than narrative and that the characters roles shaped the narrative whereas tzevton todorov' was a firm beliver that narrative theory was shaped via the uise of disquiellberum and equillberum which invovled which tempo the scene started at , he also believes that at one point theres id disruption in a film which leads on the the main section of it. Aritsole believed in the dramatic effect of a film , such things as themes , elements and emotions were more fundamental than a presise narrative , and beleived the themes structured the genre of the film.

Our Narrative :
Our narrative mainly links in with the ideas of Todorov , as our opening scene uses the effect of an disequillberrum we our opening scene at a high tempo , we introduce our character with a image that makes him produce a angry emotion , furthermore , to add to the link of todorov , we also have a diserupition that plays a effect on our main character and therefore shapes the direction and narrative of our film.

An example of how our narrative follows todorov's ideas is our opening scene , which introduces the character unnaturally as we see him having flashbacks from a numerous amount of items , this scene was an effective use of the todorov theory as it allowed the audience to identify that the thriller would be based around the uneasiness of this character.

Our themes :
Our film is going consist of themes that will demonstrate its a thriller with the sub genre of romance , we will use themes such as , murder , obession , love , hate , murder to illustrate this. The theme of murder is demonstrated by the main characters murder of another character , the theme of obsession is represented via the use of the main characters love and obession for the female character.

We have demonstrated the idea of themes by using elements such as iconography as we represent a necklace being handed from a male character to a female which connotes love , and therefore this use of iconography reflects the theme of love within our thriller.

Analysis of narrative theory 
 By studying narrative theories i have highlighted the differecnes btween the propov theory and todorov , which has benefited my film as i now know which theory i am going to strive for , furthermore , studying theories has allowed me to understand how to reflect the themes and messages of the film by using the micro elements which will hopefully add to the effectiveness of the film and the audiences viewing pleasure.
