Question One - Our target audience suggested that they would expect to see a 15 - 18 age rating on a thriller film , this was a beneficial answer as our film will be aged at 15 , which would therefore allow us to have a larger audience ,furthermore we would be able to have a 15 rating as our film doesn't have much use of violence or anything offensive or disturbing for those around the age of 15.
Question Two - The target audience said that they would expect to see a murder ,kidnapping or castrophrospic event within a thriller film , this helped us develop our narrative as we included a kidnapping within our film, and therefore , by using this question we made our thrillers narrative become a conventional one.
Question Three - The target audiecne naswered by saying , they would expeact to see a dark excluded location , we followed this refernce by using two locations that fitted this description that were the ''alley'' and the ''hideout'' which are both dark due to the low key lighting.
Question Four - The target audience suggested they iconography they would expeact to see what rope , weapons etc.. we followed this to an extent as we tied up the fmale character , however , we used celleotape to represent the improvisation and experiecne of the character , which helped the representation of the character.
Question Five - The type of characters our audiecne suggested were contasted , they said theyw ould expeact to see an innocent character or the vitcim and a killer or 'baddy' (angtanist) , we once again fufilled this as our characer troy is a bad character as he kidnaps our innocent character julia , and therefore our characters can be classed as conventional as they live up to the expectations of the audience.
Question Six - The audience suggested the themes they would expect to see were : love, violence , hate , pyscotic , murder , revenge . The themes we went for were revenge , love and pyshoctic, which where all implemented by the character troy and his obsession of Julia.
As a group we developed another questionaire to get a all round view of the audiecne -
the questions were as follows :
These questions were effective as they allowed us to target the audiecne and create a film that would appeal to their needs
The response we received was :
these results therefore dictated us towards choosing thriller as our genre as it was the more dominate answer and therefore would have the largest abundance in terms of audience and popularity.
We also used these figures within an pie chart :
the results of this pie chart allowed my group to pin point that the most important element within thier idea of an thriller was sequence we therfore took note of this and made sure to included it within our narrative in order to entertain our target audiecne.
The questionaires and research methods were effective as they allowed me and my group to recieve a number of results which dictated key elements in which we needed to included within our thriller and therefore helped us in developing our narrative and film as a succesfull thriller.
Audience feedback is important as it can allow you to improve your film , furthermore , it can help you as a director when aiming for a conventional thriller as it describes what the audiecne is expeacting to see and indicates how you should achieve this.
